Metro Supports Score Against Hunger
The Food Bank of Central & Northeast Missouri will be holding its annual SCORE Against Hunger luncheon on Tuesday, August 19 at The Crossing. The event begins at 11:30 a.m., and tickets are available for only $10 each. Proceeds from this event benefit the important work of The Food Bank. Shane Winter is organizing Metro Rotary’s involvement in this event, and he has tickets available for your purchase.
This is the 20th year for the SCORE Against Hunger campaign. The goal for the 2014 season is to raise $1 million, or 12.5 million meals, to help feed hungry families. The funds are restricted to acquire and distribute food, free of charge, to 131 hunger relief agencies including soup kitchens, shelters for the homeless and abused, food pantries and 141 elementary schools through the Buddy Pack Program. You can pledge to donate a certain amount per point scored, games won or just because you believe in the cause!
Metro Rotary has historically been a strong supporter of local charities, and we know this year will be no different. Please plan to join your fellow Rotarians and other Columbia civic organizations in support of this event.
