Metro Continues Support of Douglass Students
Under the guidance of Sarah Read and Jeremy Morton, Metro Rotary will continue its support of students at Douglass High School this year. Metro Rotarians have taken leadership roles in serving as mentors, assisting with job fairs, speaking to students and helping build the fitness trail around the school. If you would like to assist this year, please review the 2014-2015 curriculum grid to see what role might best suit your talents. If you have questions or would like to sign up, please contact Sarah Read at your earliest convenience.
Please note that our scheduled speaker for the September 24 luncheon will be John Reid, an Outdoor Learning teacher at Douglass High School, and he will be sharing slides of our projects at Douglass. Because Rotarians have helped students with past stream clean-up efforts, John would like to extend the invitation below to Metro Rotarians.
The Missouri River Relief would like to invite Rotary Club members to join them for a boat trip on the Missouri River on Tuesday, September 30, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Space is limited to the first 20 who reserve a spot! They plan to depart from the boat ramp at Katfish Katie’s in Huntsdale for an evening tour of the river. Participants will learn about the river’s natural history along with Missouri River Relief’s efforts to educate the public on the unique qualities this ecosystem has and how we can better preserve them.
If you are interested in attending, please email John Reid. Please leave your name and contact number in case of last minute changes to the schedule. Also, should your schedule change and you end of not being able to attend, please contact Sarah Read so that someone on the waiting list can replace you.
