June is Rotary Fellowships Month
As you have most likely noticed I have tried to begin each of our meetings this year by giving you an opportunity to reintroduce yourself to someone nearby. At first I asked you to look at the spelling of each other’s names and listed classifications on your badges so we could really get to know one another. For the second half of the year I have given you an interesting personal question to ask your neighbor. All of this was in the name of one of the things that I think Rotary is all about – fellowship. A desire for others to join him in the name of community and fellowship was the reason Paul Harris started Rotary.
During this final month of the Rotary year we recognize the ways in which Rotarians can share common interest with other Rotarians throughout the world through Rotary Fellowships. Existing fellowships can be found in My Rotary at www.rotary.org/en/our-programs/more-fellowships as well as opportunities to form new fellowships. These fellowships are described as “international groups that share a common passion. Being part of a fellowship is a fun way to make friends around the world, explore a hobby or profession, and enhance your Rotary experience.”
I have truly enjoyed serving as you club president this past year and look forward to the fellowship we will continue to enjoy as friends and fellow Rotarians.
