January is Vocational Service Month
As you know, Vocational Service is one of Rotary’s Avenues of Service. Vocational Service calls for every Rotarian to: 1) aspire to higher ethical standards in his/her occupations; 2) recognize the worthiness of all useful occupations; and 3) contribute his/her vocational talents to the problems and needs of society.
Within our club, we have a diverse range of classifications, yet we could expand our horizons so much! Locally, there are a number of vocations who are not represented in our membership. Rotary, as an organization, believes that every vocation in the classifications so recognized serves a significant and useful purpose for the betterment of the club, our communities and our world. As such, we have many qualified professionals in our community that could help us make Rotary even more impactful on a local basis as well as internationally.
During January, I encourage all members to bring at least one guest to an upcoming Rotary meeting. If you can bring someone who is employed in a classification that is currently not represented by our membership, that would be ideal. If you are unfamiliar with the different classifications held by our members, feel free to browse the online membership directory on our website.
As we move forward with our year, let us continue to share our vocation with others and live the ideals of Rotary every day.
