August is Membership & New Club Development Month
When former district governor, David Bixler, paid us a visit several years ago he asked us “Are we Rotarians or just Rotary club members?” There is actually quite a difference between the two. Being a Rotarian means not only participating in and contributing to club activities, but also adhering to the values of Rotary in our daily lives. The vibrant and service oriented nature of our club provides many opportunities for all club members to become true Rotarians, from reading to preschool children in the PIE program and contributing to international water projects or the Rotary Foundation to involvement in club social, fundraising, and networking events. It is up to you to decide if you want to be just a Rotary club member or a Rotarian.
August is Membership and New Club Development month. My goal is to increase our club membership by a net of 4 new members by June 30, 2020. Do you know someone who would make a good Rotarian? Consider inviting them to one of our meetings or our monthly fellowship. If you happen to just be visiting our website, consider attending one of our meetings yourself at noon on Wednesdays at the Columbia Country Club. We will be hearing from our new District Governor, Paul Reinert from Springfield, at our Aug 21 meeting. Let’s have a good showing to welcome him to one of the best Rotary Clubs and gathering of Rotarians in District 6080!
Let’s continue to live out Rotary International’s theme, Rotary Connects the World.
