January is Vocational Service Month
It is a new year and a new decade and Metro Rotary remains a strong, vibrant and forward looking organization. January is Vocational Service Month as Vocational Service is one of Rotary’s Avenues of Service.
Throughout the world, Rotary is admired for this and for the time-honored values we instill in all business relationships. Vocational Service calls for every Rotarian to: 1) aspire to higher ethical standards in his/her occupations; 2) recognize the worthiness of all useful occupations; and 3) contribute his/her vocational talents to the problems and needs of society.
Within our club, we have a diverse range of classifications, yet we could expand our horizons so much! Locally, there are a number of vocations who are not represented in our membership. Rotary, as an organization, believes that every vocation in the classifications so recognized serves a significant and useful purpose for the betterment of the club, our communities and our world. As such, we have many qualified professionals in our community that could help us make Rotary even more impactful on a local basis as well as internationally.
During January, I encourage all members to bring at least one guest to an upcoming Rotary meeting. If you can bring someone who is employed in a classification that is currently not represented by our membership, that would be ideal. If you are unfamiliar with the different classifications held by our members, feel free to browse the online membership directory on our website.
As we continue our work to grow Metro Rotary, let us remember that vocational service remains a crucial selling point to potential members, and let us continue to share our vocation with others and live the ideals of Rotary every day.
